Guitar Summit Concert

My husband Tim and I had the pleasure of experiencing the Guitar Summit Concert last night in Cottonwood, AZ. These guys are amazing. In this video: Fitzhugh Jenkins, William Eaton and Anthony Mazzella. And we also had the additional guitar and vocal artistry of Joe Myers in the concert. It was truly exquisite!

Only a Mother Would Know

I don't know the origin of this little story, but I enjoyed it! Thanks, Anthony, for sending it to me.
Cup of Tea

One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me. I was maybe 2 1/2 years old.. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift and it was one of my favorite toys.

Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought Daddy a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home.

My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!'

My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy and she watches him drink it up.

Then she says, (as only a mother would know.. :-)

'Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?'

God's Wings

While looking for a poem, I found this, which touches my heart so much. I send it to you as it was originally sent to me years ago. I no longer know the origin of it.

God's Wings

A little something to put things in perspective...

An article in National Geographic several years ago provided a interesting picture of God's wings. After a forest fire in Yellowstone
National Park, forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage.

One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree.

Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick.

When he gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother's wings.

The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. When the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast.

Because she had been willing to die, those under the cover of her wings would live.

"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge." (Psalm 91:4)

Being loved this much should make a difference in your life. Remember the One who loves you, and then be different because of it.

Don't drive faster than your Guardian Angel can fly.

A Poignant Day

It’s a poignant day for me, today, 9/11/2009. Of course there is the obvious – the 8th anniversary of the incredible day when our feelings of security in the US were literally blown up, and so many people died. I do feel that the outcome of that day has been very valuable to the human race – it opened a lot of hearts and enabled us to grown in compassion and in our ability to value all life.

I just read a very – um – what’s the best word? Thought-provoking and HEART-provoking blog post about 9/11 and the choices some people had to make. I recommend reading it with the caveat that it will likely bring tears...

This guy is very prolific…. it’s already the second post down on the page.

If you read it, what choice would you make?

Perhaps I could fly……….

The second reason this is a poignant day is the flash floods in Sedona yesterday. I have found out that at least one friend had water flowing through her house. And some lives were endangered, much property damaged. It's shocking how fast the waters can rise in a flash flood in the desert.

Fox the Poet also has Sedona flood photos on his blog – indeed some of the photos at the link above appear to be his.

So today I am feeling grateful for what has NOT happened to me, and feeling compassion for those who have lost property, friends and family members – or their own lives.

"We are travelers in a cosmic journey - star dust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. But the expressions of life are ephemeral, momentary, transient. Buddha once said "This existence of ours is as transient as autumn clouds. To watch the birth and death of beings is like looking at the movements of a dance. A lifetime is like a flash of lightning in the sky." We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment, but it is transient. It is a little parenthesis in eternity. If we share with caring, light heartedness and love, we will create abundance and joy for each other. And then this moment will have been worthwhile." ~Deepak Chopra

Greetings, Friends,

Moving now from the sublime (the thoughts of Buddha in my last post) to some refreshingly humorous honesty!

Well, friends, the truth is that I think it’s ALL divine, and I love it when we can laugh at ourselves. It shows wisdom and light-heartedness, IMO.

So I offer for your discernment and possible amusement, this video of Truth in Relationship – a guy singing an R&B song about wanting to make love to his girlfriend, and his honest assessment of how that might be. (Thanks to Mark for this humorous look at human nature!)

And here is what they might be drinking on their romantic evening:

Thanks to Tim for this refreshing beverage to set the mood…..

Blessings,
Cathryn
